10 Reasons Why You should be an ANO / Ncc Officer

Many people used to ask me whether they should go for ANO or not. What are the advantages and disadvantages to be engaged as ANO in school or college? Some teachers are afraid of extra burdens apart from their regular work. So, here is the 10 Reasons Why You should be an ANO.

In this article, I am going to explain all these things. There are 10 reasons why you should undergo ANO Training or be an NCC Officer. Here are these 10 reasons:

Chance to Live a Regimental Life

Generally, common people do not get a chance to live a Regimental life. Only defense personnel avail such life. But if you are going to be an ANO, you will get a chance to be in regimental life. You will get a chance to learn a motivated and disciplined life. During Ano training, you will get a chance to go through these activities:

Opportunity to develop Officerly Quality

Ncc Officer training will provide you to learn Officerly quality. You will learn the dressing sense, way of dressing, and a perfect lifestyle. This training will change your personality, your mental level as well as your physical level. In short, it will upgrade you in many parts of your personality. At the age where you are, you will never get such change to boost your personality anywhere else.

Smart Canteen Card Facility

An Ano is provided with a smart canteen card. It is a privileged facility as per his/her pay scale for Ncc Officer. I think this facility makes me feel that I am an Army Officer. Or somehow I am attached to the army. Personally, this facility motivates me a lot to be and remain a Ncc Officer. The Smart Canteen card facility is only for groceries. It is not liquor for Ncc Officers.

Honorarium

Ncc Officer (ANO) is entitled to a monthly honorarium. After training and getting commissioned, he becomes eligible Honorarium. Rank-wise & educational institutional-level wise rate of honorarium are as follow:

For the ANO in Colleges & Universities (In-charges of SD & SW)

Major 3000/- Per Month
Captain 2500/- Per Month
Lieutenant 2000/- Per Month

For the ANO in Schools (In-charges of JD & JW)

Chief Officer 2500/- per Month
1^st Officer 2200/- per Month
2^nd Officer 2000/- per Month
3^rd Officer 1800/- per Month

Uniform & Rank

A teacher who goes to undertake the Pre-commissioned Course will get a uniform. I think it’s one of the most amazing things to be an ANO. One more amazing thing is Rank. In fact, You will get a Rank in Defence Ministry after training. From time to time, you will get the opportunity to attend training to get a promotion.

The detailed Ranks and Scales of ANOs’ detail are:

Senior Division Officers

Army Wing

On being first commissioned – Lieutenant.
After 8 years commissioned service – Captain.
After 15 years commissioned service – Major.

Naval Wing

On being first commissioned – Sub Lieutenant.
After 8 years commissioned service – Lieutenant.
After 15 years commissioned service – Lieutenant Commander.

Air Wing

On being first commissioned – Pilot Officer.
After 3 years commissioned service – Flying Officer.
After 8 years commissioned service – Flight Lieutenant.
After 15 years commissioned service – Squadron Leader.

Junior Division Officers

On being first commissioned – Third Officer.
After 3 years commissioned service – Second Officer.
After 8 years commissioned service – First Officer.
After 15 years commissioned service – Chief Officer.

Physical Health & Fitness

ANO training will give you the opportunity to get fit. In fact, it’s a completely healthy fitness package that will you get nowhere. A package of fitness will give you weight loss, endurance, stamina, and agility in your body. You can also reduce your belly fat easily. No gym of the world will provide you so result oriented fitness as the OTA will give you.

During the training, these three activities must accomplish:

PT (Physical Training)
Drill
Sport

PT consists of 2.4 Km running, 100 m. sprint, 5 m shuttle run, push-ups, & sit-ups. These exercises help you to make your body overall fit. It reduces your belly fat and overall fat. Pt makes you active, full of stamina and improves your endurance. While Drill breaks your weight. Drill work to your lower body especially on your leg. Somehow, it improves your testosterone. However, sports activities make your body and mind happy. In short, the whole training will rejuvenate you and make you young again. Therefore, I consider one of the biggest advantages of the training.

Commander of a troop in school

Being a teacher, you will also be a commander of a troop in your institution. One unit of the Ncc troop will obey your command. At least 50 cadets will work under you in your educational institute. This will strengthen your hold in your institute. The cadets under you will follow all your commands and orders.

School/College administration will also give importance to your troop. However, they will also look for you for any assistance in important events. I think it will improve your importance in your school/college.

Confidence & Recognition in Society

When you get commission, rank, and uniform, you will feel confident in yourself. Definitely, Ncc Officer training will provide you with a fit body and Uniform. So, good health, Rank, and uniform will make you a cut above normal life. You will also get an ID card which is also an important document. This id card will give you access to some places where normal people are not allowed. In some short cases or checks, the Police will also respect them. They will also allow your exit without any checking.

These things give you solid confidence in your personality. Direct or indirectly, society will also respect you and your uniform.

Chance to learn various Life Skills

Ncc Officer Training is very useful for us. It not only makes you physically fit but also makes you a well-grown personality. I personally learn so many life skills during my training period. The main life skills which we learn in OTA are- Team spirit, leadership quality, competitive spirit, decision making, survival skill, battlefield, craft field, map reading, etc.

So, you will have a chance to learn these life skills if you be an ANO.

Positive changes in life

When a teacher becomes an ANO, he/she will find some positive change in his/her life. Pre-commission course in OTA make you tough physically and mentally. At the age when you are a teacher, you will also get a chance to be a student again. OTA will teach you so many useful lesion. You will learn that life goes on without you too. One can test your resistance power there against the problems. You may have to bear the person which you don’t like. So, these things change your mind setup. Therefore, you start thinking differently. This is the point where the positive changes take place in you. In fact, these changes help you to live a tension-free & happy life.
